Full Service Pack Trips

Imagine you and your family and friends riding down the tranquil and unspoiled Sespe Trail, crossing rivers and creeks, riding the trail of the purple sage, enjoying a comfortable version of "roughing it" while having excellent food prepared for you in the outback. Relax in the peace and solitude of the wilderness campsites, chosen for their scenic beauty. I will take the pleasure of sharing with you this great wilderness on horseback.

We provide all camping and cooking gear, food (3 meals a day), cook and stock. Our most deluxe fully catered service combines all amenities of mountain travel by horseback with wilderness vacation. We provide tents if you choose to sleep in one. You provide your personal gear, sleeping bags and pads, water bottle, also alcohol if you choose. Canned beer and bottled wine is fine. If there is anything in particular that you would like included in the menu, this must be discussed during your booking arrangements. If you plan to fish, be sure to get your California State Fresh Water Fishing License. Bathing suits are also recommended for an after dinner soak in the hot springs or an afternoon swim in one of the many swimming holes along the Sespe River.



Trips are customized to your preference. A minimum trip is two nights in camp with one day in between to relax, hike, or take a short ride with your guide to explore the area, but longer stays in the wilderness can be arranged and are recommended. The ideal pack trip is 3-4 nights, which gives you and your group a chance to really unwind and experience a apck trip in the Los Padres.

Trailhead: The trailhead is the place of departure into the wilderness. We use Lion's Camp Trailhead located out of Rose Valley off Highway 33 (approximately 1.5 hour scenic drive from Santa Barbara). Vehicles can be left at the trailhead. We will meet you at the trailhead at a prearranged time having arrived a few hours earlier to prepare and saddle stock.

Spot Pack Trips: We take you in by horseback and drop you and your gear/provisions off, the stock and packer return for you on a predetermined date.

Los Padres Outfitters is licensed to guide you and your friends or family through Santa Barbara's spectacular backcountry -- the Los Padres National Forest.

A typical trip is 3 days and 2 nights, and fully catered.
